Mel joined the plasma physics PhD program in Fall 2022, having recently graduated with a B.A. in astrophysics from the University of California, Berkeley. She minored in electrical engineering and computer science and appreciates the intersection of theoretical physics and hands-on engineering, particularly in the context of clean energy and de-carbonization.
